Final project
What?
For my final project, I chose to compile my artwork and create a portfolio on my blog site. I took pictures of my artwork and made separate pages to highlight what materials I used, why I created it and what I’ve learned about making the artwork.
Why?
I’ve always loved art, and I have never had a portfolio before, so I thought this would be a great idea for my final project.
Accessibility
Why?
As my page focuses on showing off my artwork, it’s important to make sure people can understand what my art is about.
How did I make my site assessable?
For all photos on my site, whether it be my artwork or my header photo, I always include alt text for what the photo is. I also made sure my site colors were highly contrasted with each other for those who are vision impaired. I want everybody to be able to comfortably view my site.
Media Credit
How did I do mine?
While all of these artworks or pictures my family’s or mine alone, I still decided to caption all of them “Via me” or “Via my dad” so people know who took the picture or drew the artwork.
Information Accuracy
Did I add outside information?
No, I did not. All artwork is mine, and all photos are mine and my family’s, so when I discuss how and why the art was made, I don’t need to consult any outside sources.
Copyright
Which is mine?
My copyright states that others can post my work in other places, as long as they credit me. People can also use my work for commercial use, but only unadapted form. People choosing to use my work cannot change it in any way.
Why I chose it
I decided to let people post my artwork elsewhere because I don’t mind other people showing my work off, as long as they credit me properly. I don’t want people remixing or changing my art because I worked hard on my artwork and I don’t want other people to change how I did it.
AI
Did I use any AI on this project?
No, I did not use any sort of AI. Whether it be a picture creation or help in any way.
The Process
How did I make this site?
The University of Mary Washington, which is the college I attend, gives every student one free website to use. I downloaded WordPress onto this site to be able to customize it. I am able to make posts and customize my site on my computer alone.
Why I chose my layout
I picked from pre-made layouts for my site. I liked the way to flowed with where I wanted my links and photos. I chose the color pink because it’s one of my favorite colors, and I chose my text to be a dark red because pink is a shade of red, so it matches the theme, while also being dark enough to have good contrast for accessibility.
